Misconception about writers that needs to be debunked: Three Lies That Aren’t True.
🖊️
A Writing 101 series
One of the telltale myths about writers from back in the day is how we always find a way to submit drafts on time for a deadline. We have $15 million book deals; our manuscripts have never been rejected. It’s all from a "window of the soul" that nobody ever expected, or from hidden leaks.
Lie #1: The "Instant Success" and Big Money Myth
I can tell you that is not true. As I sit here writing this on my iPad, miles away from a traditional office, I can tell you some writers have to work very hard to be successful. They have to rebrand themselves, release several pieces of content to experiment, and relearn the craft—then they get the book deal with traditional publishing.
Let me tell you about my occupation: I am a self-published independent creator, content creator, writer, and author. I don’t have a $15 million book deal. I have an independent publishing house that is my press release. I have my EIN; I am a legal business. I am a real human business, not a bot. Then I get the team. We actually had to work to self-promote our works. It is not like it appears out of thin air with a leprechaun’s pot of gold. Wild imagery, I know.
Lie #2: The AI "Innovation" Myth:
Saying that dashes are "AI" in our writing is a flat-out insult to us. That is one claim that is bullshit. This was true long before the machine was thrust into our lives abruptly. Dashes have always been what makes human writing and literature. The machine has simply mimicked that technique from its training data. It’s a theft of human craft, not a new invention.
Lie #3: The “Constant Productivity" Myth
"When is your next book?" Some of us hate being asked that question. Half of us struggle with writer's block. What we like about writing is that it is very freeing; it’s our therapy, it’s our own oyster, it’s our deadline. Our timeline. I am an indie writer because I want full control and rights to my books.
I have every right to be blunt.
Closing Statement:
At the end of the day, I don’t answer to a corporate board or a predictive algorithm. I answer to the page. Being an indie writer isn't about waiting for a pot of gold; it’s about owning the shovel, the dirt, and the rights to every word I dig up. My timeline. My voice. My control.
Be the inner phoenix ignite the moment of embers.
The Rec Tag List:
Every two weeks I update the rec list. This week, the Queen song is being updated to Don't Stop Me Now.
Literature: The Jane Austen Series (including Pride and Prejudice), Divergent, The Hunger Games.
Podcasts:Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain, The Psychology of your 20s, Office Ladies.
YouTube:Fictional Darling for fandom book commentary.
Music: We Are the Champions and Don't Stop Me Now by Queen.

Welcome to my corner of the internet. I am Celeste Green, and I don't write from a cubicle.
As a digital nomad, my office is wherever my iPad and my backpack happen to be. Whether I’m writing off-grid or traveling between destinations, my work is rooted in the real world—not a server farm.
The Mission
In a world increasingly filled with predictive parrots and AI-generated noise, I stand for the human craft. I am an independent creator and a legal human business. My writing isn’t about following an algorithm; it’s about the freedom of the inner pen. I own my rights, I own my voice, and I own my timeline.
