📕 The report that Downing Street suppressed last year has finally been released‼️: multiple Freedom of Information requests have pushed the government to share crucial (yet, for many of us, unsurprising) findings by the "Nature security assessment on global biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security".

Amongst other things, this report admits how:

⚡ Every critical ecosystem is on a pathway to collapse

🌊 Cascading risks of ecosystem degradation are likely to include geopolitical instability, economic insecurity, conflict, migration and increased inter-state competition for resources.

🍎 Critical ecosystems that support major global food production areas and impact global climate, water and weather cycles are the most important for UK national security.

The collapse of critical ecosystems could come as early as 2030. The recognition that the sixth mass extinction may already be underway will be a direct challenge to the UK withdrawing funding intended to make us safer with vital mitigation and adaptation efforts.
