“Please don’t act like everyone loved my father. He was assassinated. A 1967 poll reflected that he was one of the most hated men in America. Most hated. Many who quote him now and evoke him to deter justice today would likely hate, and may already hate, the authentic King.”-Bernice King, Twitter Jan. 18th, 2021.

Today is the Inauguration Day of President Donald Trump, who has promised the American people a future of hate, division, greed, lies, and a complete dismantling of our rights and freedoms. Somehow he is NOT the most hated man in America….

This is where I put my focus today, honoring Dr. King and his legacy. The plumbline to hope for change in modern day America. Thank you, Dr. King for sharing, living, leading, and dying for the vision set before you. To quote you from your “ I’ve Been to the Mountaintop” sermon:

“Like anybody, I would like to live a long life. Longevity has its place. But I'm not concerned about that now. I just want to do God's will. And He's allowed me to go up to the mountain. And I've looked over. And I've seen the Promised Land. I may not get there with you. But I want you to know tonight, that we, as a people, will get to the promised land!”

I honor you today and pray that one day we will indeed united in this country with liberty and justice for all.
