As much as there is to loathe about the next four years, and as much as I know terrible things will happen, I do have this weird feeling that the deep self interest of Trump's new allies will be a subtler and more efficacious curb to his destructive absurdity, and I see him wanting to please those people, whereas he had no interest in pleasing the merely sensible ones he had last time. The new allies will make arguments for subtlety based on insensible and immoral premises, so he'll listen. I might be wrong, fabricating hope; but maybe not? Just a note!
