If we want to solve the teacher shortage, we need to stop calling teaching a “calling” or a “labor of love.” Those terms are just excuses to justify underpaying experts. Teaching is a high-level, high-stress clinical profession. Let’s start treating it, and paying for it, like the essential infrastructure it is.
