Feel like you’ve been sitting and breathing shallowly in a hunched position for too long? Take a quick break and try these gentle diaphragm exercises:

  • sensory awareness: stand or sit up straight and gently tap or massage right under your ribs with your fingertips, starting at the center and working outwards

  • side bend stretch: stand up and lift your left arm overhead, tilt to the right, reaching your left hand over to the right. repeat on other side

  • diaphragm stretch: inhale deeply, then slowly exhale fully until no air remains a few times. My favorite way to really feel this stretch is to place my hands on either side of my lower ribcage, inhale and feel my ribs expand, and try to keep my ribs expanded while exhaling. lovely stretch
