Okay, who sent me this gift? (And how did you know it was exactly what I needed?)

It’s immensely satisfying seeing the triffid-like growth of an amaryllis bulb even though I swear it happens whenever you’re not looking. As soon as you turn your back, the stem grows. There are still amaryllis bulbs in the shops- this is how easy it is. Stick it in a bit of water and a bit of light, give it 6-8 weeks and Bob Is Definitely Your Uncle.
