Vermont ranks 2nd in per-pupil education spending ($28,697). We rank 17th in teacher pay ($69,562, below the national average). We have the lowest student-to-teacher ratio in the nation. And our 8th grade reading scores just fell below the national average for the first time ever.

I’m not an education policy expert. I’m a Norwich dad who started pulling at these threads to understand what Act 73 might mean for our community and couldn’t stop. The result is an interactive dashboard and a long Substack piece trying to make sense of it all.

I built it for myself. I’m sharing it because I think Vermont deserves an honest, data-informed conversation about where we are and where we’re heading.
