Norway Uncovers Remote ‘Kill Switch’ in Chinese-Made Electric Buses — And It’s Not Alone.

Ruter tested the buses inside a decommissioned mine to simulate signal isolation and check for remote control capability.

• Yutong retained digital access via a Romanian SIM card used for over-the-air (OTA) updates, covering battery and power-management systems — a capability absent from the comparable Dutch VDL model.

• Ruter removed SIM cards from 300 buses in Oslo and 550 more across other Norwegian regions as a precaution.

• No evidence the “kill switch” was ever activated, but the theoretical capability triggered alarm.

My opinion: Never before has the world consumed so many gadgets, IoT devices, IP cameras, smartphones, laptops, smart bulbs, and other smart devices—and now, LLMs and AI. It feels as though the world has turned into one giant "Big Brother" scenario. It is not just China; various countries are using their companies as extensions of their military and intelligence apparatuses. The only way to be truly safe today is to live completely offline and indoors, since you can be watched via satellite. Freedom, privacy, and cybersecurity are the greatest fallacies of all. And it’s going to get worse!
