Here is Eileen McAvoy with her new, signed copy of Manchán’s Magan’s book Dána Gránna that she won in the Grá Mór (Big Love) raffle.
Eileen shared:
“The book arrived today and I just happened to be wearing green—so appropriate for receiving a gift from Ireland. I love the book. What fun to read about the nasty words people use to describe each other. It gives a view into what they value. Two things that seem important to the Irish are doing your share of the work staying clean.
…I also love that the words are meant to ‘express our irritation at others in a light-hearted way.’ They can often mean something besides people. My favorite, however, is Ráitsrach: Wanton woman. Woman of loose morals. Chatterbox. Prattling person. …loose with her hips—or lips…”
So glad your’re enjoying the book Eileen and thanks again to you and all others who read The Gaelic Effect and support it by being a paying subscriber. The mór (love) is much appreciated! The Grá Mór raffle is my way of sending “big love” back to you!
