This sounds right. None of the people I know who dabble in these things do so because of any transcendental impulse, but almost entirely due to aesthetic/vibe reasons. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on the role demonology plays in this particular instance - think Screwtape would see the secularization of occult practices and lifestyles as being just as good an outcome as pre-secularization results would’ve been.
