🚨 North Carolina HB 1232 would amend the state constitution to declare a fertilized egg is a legal person. That makes abortion the crime of murder, punishable by death.

Under this bill, prescribing, selling, or using an IUD or Plan B could be prosecuted as murder because it could prevent implantation.

It makes IVF illegal because embryos get discarded. It opens every miscarriage to a criminal investigation. And it contains a clause that could let third parties use deadly force against pregnant people to "defend" the fetus.

A woman isn't even clinically pregnant at fertilization. According to the American College of Gynecology (ACOG) pregnancy does not even begin until implantation which happens 6-10 days later.
