The teens who attacked the Islamic Center of San Diego were part of a “global white supremacist accelerationist movement”

We’ve learned more about the online radicalization and beliefs of the two white teenage boys who were radicalized online and blocked from reaching 140 kids in the Islamic Center of San Diego’s school by the three heroes they killed.

“These subjects did not discriminate on who they hated,” per the special agent in charge of the FBI’s San Diego field office.

They targeted a mosque, but it could just as easily have been a synagogue, Black church, or other place where minorities gather.

There was a gas can bearing Nazi S.S. insignia in the car where they were found dead.

The teens had access to an arsenal of weapons registered to a parent.

Specifics from their Nazi symbol-emblazoned writing:

• They believed white people are systematically being replaced (“great replacement theory”)

• Jews are responsible for that replacement

• Women are the root of everything wrong with the world

• Blacks are genetically inferior

• Islam is incompatible with ‘the West’ and sharia law is taking over US towns

The goal of these teens was to accelerate the disintegration of our social fabric and bring about civil war.

While many their beliefs are becoming alarmingly mainstream — echoed by the White House, some Republican Members of Congress, and far-Right influencers — most Americans reject them. We must come together to protect each other and our democracy.

Muslim-Jewish solidarity is a key piece of that.
