I understand the strategic impetus for annexing Greenland (Golden Dome missiles, arrest China's Arctic ambitions), but the truly imperial thing to do would be to act as though Greenland is already yours (because Denmark is already yours, because Europe is already yours...). You don't have to sacrifice soft power and diplomatic clout for a Fortress America. The Danes will let you expand you military presence in Greenland. If you need full annexation for some reason, do it after you've gotten them to de facto give you military control over the island and make a deal. The point now is to bolster ("Right" "populist") parties that align with you, not alienate your vassals.
