Do you know my favorite thing about meeting Jocelyn Ulevicus while I was in France?
That we connected on Substack.
To have the opportunity to meet a fellow writer, in person, halfway across the world? Priceless! Sharing my own writing is only one reason I’m here; I’m also here to meet people, be inspired, and learn. And to have an opportunity to meet the most generous, kind people who are truly living their dreams? Incredible!
Jocelyn is talented writer, who is also working on her memoir. She’s already written a book, and has an art showing in Montmartre, if ever you’re there.
I was very eager to see her art in person! She met me at an ice cream shop, and we walked the streets of her neighborhood. Delightful!
She made me feel immediately at ease, getting to the hard stuff first, before rose ice cream. Those are the kind of conversations I live for—the real ones, with tears. You know those people who are so real they see you entirely? That’s Jocelyn. Within five minutes of meeting her, she had me in a warm embrace. I could feel her energy: Magnetic and honest, open and alive; her flowers, her words, her compassionate heart. She gives her last dollars to the unhomed, knows the names of all the neighborhood flower shop owners, and makes everyone— human, animal, and floral—feel loved and seen.
Thank you for your memoir advice, kind encouragement, and friendship for life! It was a pleasure meeting you, Jocelyn Ulevicus!
