Perspective: Piss art, cigarettes, memes, surreal chaos — artists are mocking power on behalf of the Iranian protestors like never before
From the streets to social media, artists are turning outrage into visual fire. Girls light cigarettes with Khamenei’s picture (smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em!) and extinguish them atop the Ayatollah’s turbaned head like an ash tray — piss art, cigarette, absurdist, surrealist, furious. The lion roars over the Islamic Republic. Some of it is far out, chaotic, almost gleefully unhinged, yet every piece hits the same point: power can be mocked, control can be challenged, and creativity refuses to be censored. This isn’t gallery art — it’s art as defiance, mischief, and revolution.
