I Love the Ineptitude of the Republican Parties ability to sh**t themselves in the foot when they try to cheat.
They’ve tried to gerrymander states, they’ve stolen documents and voting machines from Georgia, and now their SAVE ACT could hurt them even more.
Here’s why:
The SAVE Act introduces strict requirements for voter registration, mandating proof of U.S. citizenship.
This could significantly hinder voter registration efforts in red states (BLUE STATES have a higher percentage of voters who already have passports, People in Blue states typically have higher income and can afford the $$$ to get a passport/copies of birth certificates) where many citizens may lack the $$$ and easy access to obtain the necessary documents like birth certificates or passports.
Document Requirements: Voters will need to provide specific documentation to register or update their registration, which could deter many eligible voters.
In-Person Registration: The requirement to show documents in person may complicate the registration process, especially in rural areas where access to government offices is limited.
Increased Voter Purges
The SAVE Act mandates frequent purges of voter rolls, which could disproportionately affect registered voters in red states.
Faulty Data Risks: Voter purges based on inaccurate data may remove eligible voters from the rolls, leading to disenfranchisement.
Administrative Burden: States may face increased administrative challenges and costs without additional funding to manage these purges effectively.
Potential for Lower Turnout as a whole, but more-so in Red States
The combination of stricter registration requirements and frequent purges could lead to lower voter turnout in red states.
Many active voters who may need to update their registration due to moving or other reasons could find themselves unable to vote, impacting election outcomes.
There could be even more political consequences such as Lower turnout among eligible voters could shift the political landscape.
Additionally, the SAVE ACT places even more burden on married women voters who have taken their husbands last names to have even more barriers to voting by forcing them to get a passport at a cost of $165 which for many is prohibitive, all because their last names don’t match their birth certificates…DO WE THINK THIS ISN’T ONE OF THE REAL REASONS FOR THE ACT?
It’s the beginning in their efforts to strip women of their rights to vote because women vote in larger numbers then men do.
