Had a great conversation today about The Mothers by Brit Bennett in our “Reading Like Writers Book Club.”

Some takeaways:

1. Playing with a Greek Chorus could be a good way to expand our perspective on our other characters (even if said Greek Chorus isn’t part of our final product).

2. Characters can make 180 degree changes in our stories from beginning to end, but more often the change is subtle.

3. Brit Bennett is really good at showing character interiority without spending a lot of time inside their heads (aka through movement, dialogue, decisions, etc).
