One of the most tragic things about evangelicals celebrating a war with Iran because they think it will hasten Jesus’ return is this: the Jesus they’re waiting for is already here. They just can’t see him because he keeps showing up in the very bodies they fear, dismiss, and destroy. Jesus said in no uncertain terms that “Whatever you do to one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you do unto me.”

Jesus is in the rubble of Iran. He is starving in Gaza. He's bleeding out in the streets of Minneapolis. He's breathing in black rain in Tehran. He was a little girl on Epstein Island. He is every woman raped and groped by Donald Trump. He is sitting in ICE concentration camps. He's every single child separated from their parents by Homeland Security. You want Jesus? Then maybe stop crucifying him every time he comes to you in the poor, the bombed, the starved, the forgotten, the displaced, the raped, and the abused.
