The rule which obligates DNC delegates to vote for the candidate to whom they are pledged is Rule 13(J) in the 2024 Delegate Selection Rules, and reads as follows:

Delegates elected to the national convention pledged to a presidential candidate shall in all good conscience reflect the sentiments of those who elected them.

Pay particular attention to the phrasing “in all good conscience”.

If the media is accurately reporting the internal dissension among the delegates over Joe Biden’s advancing dementia, that phrasing could prove pivotal in getting delegates to turn faithless and not vote for Joe Biden.
