New York just reminded Donald Trump of a painful fact:

They fucking hate him.

A crowd of Knicks fans gathered outside Trump Tower chanting "New York hates you" ahead of Game 3, because apparently even during the biggest Knicks run in decades, this bloke still can't resist making it all about himself.

The Knicks are up 2-0, fans have waited their entire lives for this moment, and along waddles Trump like a drunk uncle trying to climb on stage at someone else's wedding to give a speech nobody asked for.

Ticket prices go through the roof. Fans get pushed aside. Security turns the place into Fort Knox. All so a bloke who couldn't name three Knicks players if his life depended on it can sit courtside and pretend he's part of the story.

The thing Trump has never understood is that New York knows him better than anyone. They watched the act for decades. The gold toilets. The bullshit. The scams. The endless need for attention.

And judging by the crowd outside Trump Tower, they're still not buying it.

Turns out you can spend your whole life trying to become the centre of attention and still end up getting booed by your own hometown.
