Notes

Just running through some photos of last week's trip, and found this one. This is a 12th century font made of black Tournai stone; there are only 10 of these in England and this is the third I have seen (Winchester and Lincoln Cathedrals being the others). The iconography here is similar to Lincoln - winged beasts mainly. I really must do some research on these beasties. Most of the Tournai fonts are square, I think, which is unusual for a font. Anyone, this is at the very northeast corner of Lincolnshire, in the middle of nowhere. Marvellous.
