Matthew 7:1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.”
This verse is frequently used to discourage any form of correction or moral judgment, often as a defense against criticism. However, the broader passage reveals a different message.
Jesus was condemning hypocritical judgment, not all forms of discernment. In the same chapter (Matthew 7:15-20), He tells believers to judge false teachers by their fruits. The key takeaway is that we should judge righteously and humbly, not self-righteously.
