Day 14 of camper van escapades and after a final walk on a deserted Bamburgh Castle beach it was time for the off. Back to the land of the living i.e. back to a place with some vaguely decent mobile coverage. No more waving my phone in the air to find a signal or walking around outside the van at 5am to try to get my daily Substack post up! 😉
According to the road signs we were headed to 'The South' - said in a suitable Watford accent i.e. 'The Sowff' - and driving to York. This time to a Caravan and Motorhome Club site right on the river and just a few minutes walk from the Minster etc.
It felt as if we’d landed in the lap of luxury! A humongous pitch, far bigger than many apartments in Copenhagen. Plus 10 showers and 9 toilets and that was just for us ladies! And no less than 3 big sinks with hot water (and with plugs!) for doing the washing up. You have to have holidayed in a van to appreciate just how luxurious that is - otherwise you’ll just think I’m a bit nuts right now! Well I am, but that's another matter. 🤣
Oh, and it seems we have to buy a third footstool as Evie has taken ownership of mine! Why would you sleep on the ground when you can be a pampered princess? 🥰
And what about York? I’ll simply say tourists, tourists, tourists everywhere! Not our cup of tea after the tranquility of our other recent stops. Glad we stopped by for a night though. Can we go back to the beach now?!
Tomorrow we are ‘back on the road again’ - yes I'm singing… be glad you can't hear me! 🤓
