Day 19 of our camper van escapades and another big driving day to get across Germany, almost 500km again, and after a quick hypermarket visit, we're finally over the border and back into Denmark.
Tonight is our last in the van on this trip so we’ve treated ourselves to a night at an independent camp site - Lærkelunden - near Sønderborg in southern Denmark and only a few minutes from the border.
It certainly doesn't disappoint. Rolling green lawns. Beautiful views of the sea. And amazing facilities including an indoor pool! Many of the caravans parked here are uninhabited right now so it’s totally peaceful. There’s even a ‘strawberry shed’ selling local fruit and veg. We could stay here forever…
We’ve realised on this trip that we’ve become servants to the dog. As soon as we park she's out for a little walk and then up the steps and back to her favorite place in the van - the bed - for a long nap. Does she sleep in her own bed? Of course not! She much prefers one of ours and ideally a pillow. 😉
When she wakes she comes to the end of the bed to peer at us sitting at the dining table. And she starts to chirp and chat away to get our attention. “Do you want water?” we’ll ask. The tail wags. And one of us is daft enough to pick up her water bowl and take it to the bed for her to lap it up. Service with a smile. Talk about pampered! 🥰
Tomorrow it's time to go home… 😳
