When i read AI generated writing now, i immediately click MUTE

I’m not referring to someone who’s used AI to help knock random, even stream-of-consciousness, ramblings into coherent passages, or to rearrange bullet-point ideas into a logical sequence for publication—i occasionally do this myself—that’s akin to using spellcheck (anyway, if done conscientiously, that sort of technical editing is invisible)

I’m talking about the cases where the posters (i won’t dignify them with the term authors) prompt AI to generate the entire article or comment, and throw the whole piece of sh!t at the internet without even imbuing any part of it with their own voice

I’m not even protesting against AI scraping creators’ works for their datasets without consent or compensation (although that’s plain thievery, and should be a volume unto itself), or against AI’s environmental impact (which is reportedly staggering, but that’s for more expert voices than mine)

I’m only reacting here from the gut. From the bold headings (with embedded colons), through the bullet points and emoji abuse, the repetitions, the contrast fragments (not X but Y), the repetitions, the bland passages (with all its tics like overuse of honestly, quiet, profound, conversation… i could go on for hours, but i shan’t), have i said the repetitions?, down to the actionable conclusions… ALL OF THIS makes me want to scour my eyeballs with bleach
