Instead of yet another post mortem about the election,I decided to think about what could happen if the incoming administration impliments its plans of detention and deportation.
It's happened before.
World War II.
When thousands of Issei and Nisei were forced to abandon their homes and businesses and were herded into barbaric conditions at race tracks and other places. Simply because they were of Japanese ancestry. Even though the majority of them were American born citizens.
Later they would be sent to crudely built camps in the middle of the desert or in states where winter is brutal.
My grandparents and their neighbors witnessed it. They lived in Boyle Heights alongside Japanese, Latino and Black families. Many of THEM worried about the government going after them next.
Years later,the government did the same thing to Mexican-Americans through deportation. Even though the majority of them were citizens. Families were wrongfully separated.
