Make money doing the work you believe in
If you apply the principle below to the current New Zealand government it is beyond disturbing.
Whether it’s Seymour’s school lunches, Jones’ attack on the environment or Willis hiding her cruel cost cutting behind the fictional story of household budgets, they have all prioritised elites, big corporations, donors or vested interests over supporting New Zealanders and protecting their environment.
Whenever their values run into any sort of barrier, regulatory hurdle or economic ratio that doesn’t favour a clique of wealthy people and companies, they quickly surrender their integrity, and then more egregiously, actively - usually under urgency - attempt to shift the obstacle out of the way.
The recent lobbying debacle that uncovered the Fonterra - Z Energy scandal is an excellent example. Pay equity another. Attack on the treaty another. The list is sadly endless.
Interestingly, the media rarely, if ever, challenges these politicians directly on their back-flips, about-faces, and the complete surrendering of their values. I think they should start calling them out, loudly and proudly.
