My partner blew my mind this morning with an unfamiliar quote.

“The opposite of war is not peace.

The opposite of war is creation.”

War is destruction.

Has anyone else noticed the disappearance of art in America?

The arts are not lighter or easier than STEM.

They serve a different practical purpose.

They answer the question of why, while STEM is more geared to how, what, where, how much and how often.

I think of the arts and sciences as two hemispheres of a brain. The intuitive, emotional, and holistic hemisphere, connected by a corpus callosum to the logical, rational, analytical hemisphere.

Science informs art, and art informs science. Today, many seem to reject both.

Reverse the trend.

Keep writing.

In fact, write more.

The time is right for it.
