A Bit Of Common…

Two aspects of Met Office claims of record-breaking temperatures that we really ought to grasp as informed citizens are:

1). Genuine peaks in temperature are going to be sustained. Anything of the order of a few seconds or minutes are going to be outlying transients caused by extraneous factors. The trouble is the Met Office don’t see it this way, and continue to offer garbage instead of filtering dubious data out.

2). Genuine peaks in temperature are going to be simultaneously recorded at several stations within a region. If just one or two stations pop a record within a region then we must once again assume extraneous factors. The Met Office don’t see it this way, and will refuse to cooperate with the simplest of information requests. Being vague is their best defence.

All it takes is a bit of common.
