At my high school, if students fail a class, they are put in a room and given an online “class” to complete for credit. Our district uses a platform called Plato.
It’s a joke, of course. Courses are easily completed with several button clicks and some copy and paste skills.
“It’s so funny to watch people come into Plato class thinking they actually have to do work,” I overheard one of my students say yesterday to her group of friends.
This is nothing short of educational malpractice. We have to stop.
