Congress planned America's 250th birthday to belong to everyone. Both parties, one celebration, no politics. Then the White House handed it to Trump’s own organization, and that organization turned the country's birthday into a payday.
That company is Freedom 250. The White House couldn't control the official, bipartisan commission, known as America250, so they built Freedom 250 instead and tucked it inside the National Park Foundation (NPF), the charity behind protecting our national parks. Because they buried it in NPF, Freedom 250 was able to borrow the charity's good name and donor list while dodging the transparency rules Congress wrote for the anniversary.
It just gets worse from there.
Thanks to Rep. Huffman for this great work.
