A prayerful/meditative/actioning way for today:
1. Saying, "I am participating in a master/apprentice image - I am the apprentice and I have been sent into the wilderness to learn, "to be", to taste will and freedom and how they mix with thinking and feeling - to eventually return to my master as a master; or to be given more guidance/instruction as or when I return.
2. The wilderness is alienation - I experience what it is like to feel 'cut off' from a full meaning, knowledge and understanding. I must learn and "re" member things back together. I re member, re knit by finding meaning - by imagination, reason, intuition, & the senses: "and", I work out the relationships 'between' meanings. Ratios/relationships ecetera.
3. I am incarnated into the world in a fuller way than I will be when my body passes away - I am here as body, mind, soul & spirit - knitted together as a singular embodiment. This is a unique moment of being - particular, weighty, heavy, wonder "full", awful & "awe" full, tearful, veil-like, apocalyptic, loved & forsaken.
4. The world is not just the Earth (a modern habit to conflate the term), "the world" is the Universe, the cosmos, the "created invisible" drawn into and expressed by the 'manifested divisible'.
5. Heaven is largely the invisible (virtues, principles, influences, the muses, the qualities of love, numbers...). It is partly visible - as the stars, as the planets - these are embodiments of the invisible principles ecetera.
6. The Earth - Mater Natura - is a centrepiece of "the world", set visibly in the visible heavens as the 'pale blue dot', but is also a non-visible power. A non-visible power of receptivity. Through Her the cosmos - the world - struggles for her metamorphosis. That She will become unified with heaven.
7. The third realm - the Underworld, Hades, Hell - has invisible Infernal power - forces or beings or intelligences whom struggle with heaven for control of the Earth.
8. As an incarnation into the world - that axis mundi around which good and evil struggle, with the Earth as its centre - we are the alchemical symbol of the triangle, set between heaven (the circle above) and the earth below (a square).
9. We have to see ourselves as the triangle - we are acting to bring heaven into the world. We see ourselves as warriors acting for the Good.
10. The thoughts in our minds, in our psyches, in 'our heads' are part of the world, and they may or may not be an aspect of the particularity of oneself in the midst of this. Often difficult thoughts are entities encountered, beings or chaotic "logoi-morphoi".
11. We struggle with them. They are the principalities and powers. Yet,
12. We are to love them. We have to be strong enough to face them, look at them, see them, peer at them, acknowledge them; without rancour, fear or doubt. We pray for them, we place them into the hands of Christ. We sign the cross over them. We wish for their redemption and salvation. We shape and reduce them as we do so.
13. Most importantly, this is not just "for me". I do this for the whole; for humanity and implicitly - for all being. I do this for the redemption of the world. I have a part, small as it may be.
14. I pray the Jesus Prayer, grounding myself in it, “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Living God, Have Mercy Upon Me, a Sinner.” [Another prayer may be suitable]
15. That prayer is also for the whole. “Me” encompasses and amalgamates the microcosmic & the macrocosmic, allowing self to be selfless.
16. Adam as collective humanity. We are one as Adam, and we are one in the new Adam, Christ. Pray intentionally as if this is so.
17.Widen this. Consider that actions done with intention ripple out to the whole: the Eucharist, the blessing of food and drink, prayers for friends.
18.Turn prayers for friends, acquaintances, enemies into wider spiritual struggle. E.g. “Lord have mercy upon thy servant Julia, and upon all Julias.”
19.A Breathing technique. Image in the mind’s eye a person of the Trinity (Christ particularly), a saint, a being of the celestial hierarchy. Now imagine that image as outside one’s body, upwards ideally, towards heaven. Breathe the image in. Breathe the image out.
