Gabriel Garcia Aviles was a 56 year old father of two and grandfather of three. He was detained by I*E despite a work permit and living in the US for 30 years, and he died ten days later on Oct 20th, 2025.

His daughter Mariel was continually misinformed about her father’s condition, to finally find he was hospitalized under I*E custody and was intubated with bruises, broken teeth, and lacerations.

Mariel says she spoke with her father everyday, that he was always happy and he loved bicycling.
