Make money doing the work you believe in
I'm not sure I believe in school for boys anymore.
I've said it before but found myself admitting it (again) on Casey Harper's podcast last week.
My own son, 22 years old now, still hasn't forgiven me for the school I picked. And I picked the best one I could find.
All boys.
All male teachers.
Sports in the middle of the day.
Kids hanging off of tree branches.
He hated it anyway. Because it was still school.
So this week I asked Travis Neville Author to weigh in on how he thinks we should be schooling young boys. Travis is an author, coach, educator, and former school board member who is totally obsessed with building environments where boys and men can thrive.
I asked him directly: If not conventional school, then what?
His answer wasn't "homeschool everyone." It wasn't "unschool and hope." It was more interesting than that.
But we seem to agree that part of the problem is that we built a system that rewards passivity, punishes risk, and then acts surprised when boys check out altogether.
Full interview dropped this morning.
