There is a Japanese word - tsundoku - that refers to buying books but not reading them. It’s not a negative word; it’s considered a common trait among those who love books, a sign of both curiosity and ambition.

I get this.

I was in a bookstore a few months ago and the person working there asked if he could help me find anything. I responded that I prefer to let books find me. Many of the books in the piles in my apartment - and there are many - are not books I was specifically looking to buy, but books I came across while browsing, that caught an interest I didn’t know I had or filled a need I didn’t realize existed.

I hope my book does that for someone.
