The JFK Profile in Courage Award is being presented this year to the people of the Twin Cities, honoring residents who risked their safety to protect immigrant neighbors and defend constitutional values during the recent “Metro Surge” immigration enforcement operation. The JFK Library Foundation selected Minneapolis–St. Paul for embodying President Kennedy’s call to “ask what you can do for your country,” recognizing thousands who responded with peaceful resistance, rapid-response organizing, and community care in the face of an unprecedented federal ICE deployment.
Join Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, COPAL, and Haven Watch tonight for a local watch party as the award is presented live from the JFK Presidential Library in Boston. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. at VFW Post 2817, 2916 Lyndale Ave S in Minneapolis, where community members can gather to stream the ceremony, celebrate this collective recognition, and reflect on the organizing that made it possible. Light appetizers and a celebratory cake will be provided, with a cash bar available. All Twin Citians who stood up for immigrant rights, due process, and the promise of equal protection are warmly invited to share this moment together—hope you can join us!
