Florida has long been the subject of Heritage Foundation and Federalist actions and policies by federal, state, and gubernatorial leaders. The disassembly of our education system, the interference with citizen led initiatives, the removal of elected representatives, the blatant gerrymandering to maintain the supermajority, and the constant ideological pressure to destroy the rights of individuals and public institutions that support the diversity and choices of our residents, have all led to rampant discrimination, inequality, corruption of power and of state taxpayer dollars, along with the constant threat of retribution.
If the Heritage Foundation implodes, my hope would be that our state leaders would recognize its failure and move to adopt a more democratic and equitable policy system based on fairness, justice, and environmental and economic sustainability.
Unfortunately I can’t hold my breath that long. It will take voters to use their super power at the ballot box, despite the large number of voter suppression laws passed in Florida, to bring integrity to our State and Nation.
