This is a pretty extraordinary story. Former Labour MP and Defence minister Ivor Caplin has been arrested following a paedophile hunter sting operation, in which he sent revealing photos of himself to someone he thought was a 15-year-old boy, and went to meet his target personally.

Caplin’s ‘X’ timeline is a uniquely bizarre compilation of endorsements of Starmer and other centrist Labour figures, clips of hardcore gay porn, and graphically phrased sexual advances towards often young men.

In the aftermath of his arrest, many prominent Labour figures have unfollowed Caplin and deleted all their - sometimes extensive - interactions with him. Obvious questions abound about what these people knew, when, and whether they consciously concealed his sexual proclivities.
