I can hear the Holy Spirit saying, “Build your hope on what is eternal. Pave the way for your future.”
“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” — Colossians 3:2
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth… but lay up treasures in heaven.” — Matthew 6:19–20
What does your future truly hold—for you and for those you will one day leave behind?
“A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.” — Proverbs 13:22
Are you insured?
Do you know whether you’re even insurable?
And if not… what is your plan?
“The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.” — Proverbs 22:3
Is everything in order—mentally, spiritually, physically, and financially?
“Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” — 3 John 1:2
Is your life truly hygienic, or are you just polished on the surface?
“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” — 1 Samuel 16:7
How clean are you, really?
Are you only aesthetically pleasing to the eye, or are you whole beneath the surface?
“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.” — Psalm 51:10
It’s time to stop pretending and start being real about some things.
“Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts.” — Psalm 51:6
Honestly, the older me has a lot I would say to the younger me.
“Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.” — Job 12:12
What I wouldn’t give to have some of those opportunities fall into my lap again—but this time with wisdom.
“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” — Psalm 90:12
People of God, make better choices.
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death… therefore choose life.” — Deuteronomy 30:19
Become financially literate.
“The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.” — Proverbs 21:5
Learn how to obtain grants to start your businesses.
“Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established.” — Proverbs 16:3
Start reading—really reading.
Read your books.
Read your Word.
“Study to show yourself approved unto God.” — 2 Timothy 2:15
And don’t take the pastor’s word for everything—study for yourself.
“These were more noble… in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” — Acts 17:11
Do you have a skill or a trade you want to learn? Read.
“Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.” — Proverbs 23:12
Seek knowledge.
Because knowledge is power.
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” — Hosea 4:6
