I’ve given up on AI for tasks, and gone back to my bullet journal. 🫨
AI task management doesn't fail because the tools aren't smart enough. It fails because it removes the friction we need to exercise discernment.
When capturing a task costs nothing, you capture everything.
The inbox grows. Nothing gets done.
You haven't built a system. You've built a very organized avoidance strategy.
That's why I went back to my bullet journal.
Not as a nostalgic retreat from technology, but because the friction is doing real cognitive work.
The migration process forces us to figure out what really matters?
Aristotle had a word for that discernment faculty — phronesis.
The capacity to make good judgments in uncertain contexts.
AI can hold your tasks. It can sort them. It can't tell you which ones are worth your life.
That part has to come before the system. And for me, it happens on paper first.
