Imagine Jeff Bezos, sweating and striving to build an enterprise like Amazon, succeeding, and then still being so diminutive in virtue and hollowed out of character that he would come up with a brilliant idea like separately listing the tariff on every item purchased on his site….just as Amazon does with sales tax….and then back off immediately when President Donald Trump objects to this transparent sharing of the truth with customers.

Technically, that means Bezos is not a successful man. He is a failure.

Can you imagine how dramatically our corporate and Internet leaders could have impeded Trump’s fascist dream if only they’d truly understood where they’re self-interest lay. The most offensive part isn’t even that they’re being immoral, it’s that they’re failing at self-interest.

A free and prosperous United States, and world, are the key to their long-term success, not the shitshow Trump is cooking up.
