Day 3 of celebrating Black History Month:

Ida B. Wells

In the 1890s,  journalist and activist Ida B. Wells courageously exposed the truth about the lynching of African Americans in the U.S. Through powerful works like Southern Horrors and The Red Record, she debunked the racist lie that Black victims were guilty of crimes. Wells revealed lynching for what it was - an act of terror used to maintain white economic and political power - and used her voice to demand justice and an end to this violence. Her fearless advocacy laid critical groundwork for the fight for civil rights.
