I do. However. Millie Bobby Brown helms a cosmetic company that generates $30 million a year by framing near-universal physical traits as problems to be solved — essentially, tearing young girls apart for “simply existing” (although the tone is of course upbeat and positive) and profiting from it.

I used to think I was a night owl.

But maybe night was just the first time my brain exhaled. No noise. No input. No one needing anything.

And then suddenly…ideas. At 2am.

So now I make space on purpose. A walk without a podcast. A bath without a screen. A quiet moment to just be.

The ideas arrive earlier now. Sometimes all at once. ADHD and all that! But at least my brain now lets me sleep at night.

Termination of my pregnancy was offered to me so many times I lost count. My unborn child had a 98% chance for Down Syndrome.

The specialists listed her markers clinically; thick neck, short limbs and heart complications. Constant reminders that these pregnancies terminate themselves often and without warning.

Not once did they connect me with families raising children with Down syndrome. Not once did they mention joy.

Three years later I’m still stunned by the contrast of their grim predictions…
