Tort reform has been an enormous win for the state of Florida and swept the entire U.S. insurance market by storm (USAA, etc). For Governor Ron DeSantis, this is a major contribution to his legislative legacy. It took political will and courage to put new Civil Remedies into law over 2 years ago in 2023 thru CS/CS/HB 837 (former Rep. Tommy Gregory, Rep. Fabricio, Rep. Barnaby, Rep. Botana, former Rep. Caruso, former Rep. Killebrew, current Sen. Leek, Rep. Vicki Lopez, Rep. Maggard, and former Rep. Roth) and CS/CS/SB 236 (former Sen. Hutson).

As soon as the new year in 2027, after a new Governor succeeds DeSantis, auto dividend recipients could see this all undone thru a state-wide policy coverage system change from No-Fault to At-Fault automobile insurance which is projected to entirely offset these consumer savings with drastically higher premiums.

This is why I've lobbied against opposing Motor Vehicle Insurance bills such as HB 769 (Rep. Weinberger and Rep. Danny Alvarez) and SB 522 (Sen. Grall) which rejects the above mentioned reform and legacy accomplishment for consumer protection.
