So far, all they’ve said is that this isn’t an isolated incident and that it was an attempted assassination with national security implications. If they had said the opposite, you would have concluded it was a whitewash, and with their having said what they did you’ve moved the whitewash to some indeterminate future stage. If they subsequently say there is no evidence of a shooter apart from the one who was killed on scene, that will be evidence of a cover-up, and if they say there are more it will be evidence there were a bunch of patsies and, yes, a cover-up. This cover-up will require the cooperation of the man who was shot, who presumably will have no interest in discovering who actually shot him.

I wait for evidence because I don’t rely on “everyone knows those guys always…” because it involves reasoning backwards from assumptions that are then deemed valid in light of revelations examined only in the framework of the original speculation. It’s circular and irrefutable by means of new facts.
