We hear a lot of talk about the push to monetise our cosy hobbies - and how well meaning friends and family are always pushing us to sell our crafty makes.

But I'd argue it's always been so - for hobbies traditionally seen as women's.

I remembermy Grandma years ago telling people who asked that she only knitted for those she loved, not to order.

And nothing has really changed. Women are generally expected to be in service to others at all times.

Heaven forbid we enjoy a little cosy hobby just for ourselves.
