Just about two months into life with my new first mate, Lucky. It is an incredible thing a dog’s presence. Everything is so fascinating to them and they constantly remind you that you’re the center of their universe. Lucky’s deafness heightens this experience even further. Our communication is based solely on eye contact and touch. He really watches my every move and is truly like a shadow. He can only really sleep if he is in contact with me so that he knows if I move. I know independence is a healthy trait to develop in a pup, and we are working on it, but man, it sure has been a special time bonding with this guy. Can’t wait to get him aboard the boat sailing and out exploring the islands of Maine. Just over a month til launch!
Photo 1, 2, and 3: He is so fascinated with the boat work. I know he can’t hear me but I explain it all to him anyways.
Photo 4: It is a good thing I don’t drive a stick shift because this is his favorite position in the car.
Photo 5: For a bike to hike island excursion the other day, we loaded him in the trekking pack, perched on a pillow, and he was so content being physically tethered to me.
Photo 6: If there are any typos, this is why.
