This is Holiday, a 1951 Herreshoff H28 that I spend my summer’s living aboard and exploring the Maine coast. A wooden sailboat like her sure is a labor of love but time and time again, every ounce of effort I put into her, she gives back tenfold. This summer will be her 75th birthday and we (my pup and I) will be sailing her back to Nova Scotia to uncover the story of her origin in eastern Canada.
She currently sits in my backyard in the temporary shed I built for her and with spring finally breaking in downeast Maine, projects are full steam ahead. If all goes to plan and mud season cooperates, we’ll be back in the water mid May.
Eager to get more consistent on here and engage with the incredible Substack community of creatives. We are hoping to put out weekly long form captain’s logs starting tomorrow. Stay tuned!
