This might be the closest I come to official ‘optical art,’ that art that challenges brain and eye interpretation of an image.

It’s a little off-center, a lot weird (and some might say ‘wired), and definitely an acquired taste.

It reminds me of a time MANY years ago when my son was about 5 years old, when he drew many disjointed and otherwise unrelated lines on a paper after he had spent several hours watching a video display on screen. It has been so many years and so many mental lifetimes ago that I can’t even remember how he watched it, since we didn’t own a video game device, and we were temporarily living with my mother who barely even owned a television.

Anyway, my son developed a neurological response to the pulsating lights which was an involuntary ‘twitch’ of his head/neck: his neck would jerk ever-so-slightly every few seconds. It was so frequent and so consistent that I took him to a doctor who wisely asked, ‘is your son watching video games?’ Long story short: I banned the video displays and the problem resolved itself in a relatively short time.

In the same timeframe, I sat my son down with a broad-tipped pencil and a piece of paper and told him to draw anything he wanted to draw. He drew lines that covered the entire sheet of paper, connecting lines, abstract lines. I still have that paper somewhere; one of these days I’m going to scan it into a file of my photos. All these years later, it reminds me of that time in his precious youth when something so random become so concerning but was course-corrected to avoid a bigger, more stubborn medical issue.

How this all connects to art and life, I have no clue. Do with it what you will.
